Into the future - The chamber music of JS Bach and CPE Bach

    3.30pm

Hall One, Kings Place, 90 York Way, London N1 9AG

    With Feinstein Ensemble

JS Bach Trio Sonata in G, BWV 1039
CPE Bach Trio Sonata in E, H580
JS Bach Trio Sonata in G, BWV 527
CPE Bach Trio sonata in B minor, H567

Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach was Johann Sebastian’s natural successor. Although his career could not have been more different to that of his father, they had one thing in common: both wrote music of heart-breaking beauty and melodic genius.

The Feinstein Ensemble presents a programme of sublime chamber works, juxtaposing the music of these two extraordinary composers.

‘Feinstein has acquired a formidable command of CPE Bach’s very particular style. The ‘Sturm und Drang’ movements bristle and threaten, while those in ‘Empfindsamer Stil’ charm with deeply felt sentiment.’ Gramophone
